Customer Service Agent

Reports to: Customer Service Team Leader
Office Location: Moulton Park, Northampton
Job Purpose
To deliver excellent customer service via the telephone or written correspondence ensuring individual goals, objectives and standards are achieved at all times.
Key Accountabilities
- The main focus of the role is to take incoming calls from existing customers and resolve their queries, in line with departmental quantity and quality standards
- Take ownership of and respond to written enquiries from customers
- Update new customer details checking they are entered accurately to ensure customer satisfaction and precise commission payments
- Make any changes to customer accounts in line with agreed procedures and authorisation limits
- Ensure allocated workflows are closed within pre defined service level agreements and highlight any issues to the appropriate team leader
- Liaise with external industry bodies to ensure customer issues are resolved satisfactorily
- Support the rest of the team in the delivery of team and company objectives
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- At least six months customer service experience within a call centre or similar environment
- Ability to assimilate information quickly and relay this back to the customer
- Show commitment to customer care and provide a quality service to all customers
- Possess an excellent telephone manner being able to project a pleasant professional approach and quickly build a picture of the customers’ individual circumstances and needs
- Respond positively to feedback and take an active interest in personal development
- Be able to work well as a team and on own initiative, in particular when escalating problems or issues
- Have a flexible approach to working
- Experience of working towards targets
- Ability to cope with frequently changing environments
- Good keyboard skills and an awareness of windows based applications.
Starting Salary: £14,000 - £15,000
Bonus: Performance-related, up to 10% of annual salary
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday inclusive
Holidays: 30 days per year (22 standard + 8 bank holidays) increasing with length of service to a maximum of 33 days per year (25 standard + 8 bank holidays)
Pension: Company Pension Scheme, eligible for Company contributions after one year’s service
