Metering Team Leader

Office Location: Moulton Park, Northampton
Job Purpose
To manage a team in delivering metering services through excellent customer service ensuring departmental and regulatory objectives are achieved and maintained.
Key Accountabilities
- Carry out monthly performance reviews and coaching, making recommendations for bonus payments and all other behavioural and career development aspects of performance management.
- Provide effective feedback to team members to promote continuous improvement.
- Set and cascade objectives to ensure team and department KPIs are met.
- Conduct monthly team meetings to provide an open forum for feedback, ensuring that agreed actions are completed within fixed timescales, and escalated where required.
- Work closely with other Opus Team Leaders to share best practice and create awareness of departmental issues throughout the business.
- Develop an understanding of predicted workflow forecasts to ensure that resource levels are sufficient to meet targets. Report daily progress and problems to the Operations Manager with an action plan for proposed resolution.
- Perform regular quality checks and audits on team members’ work in line with KPIs in order to continuously improve the quality.
- Monitor team and departmental processes and procedures, assessing changes and making recommendations for improvements and automation.
- Take responsibility for project work assigned by the Operations Manager.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Experience of managing and motivating a team in a target driven customer-focussed environment
- Experience of setting individual and team targets, tracking progress and measuring performance, ensuring deadlines and targets are achieved
- Ability to lead a team with a practical understanding of people management issues, including motivational, confrontational and disciplinary matters
- Ability to listen effectively and respond appropriately to requests for information and assistance, in a succinct and easily understandable style
- Ability to translate the needs of our customers into working procedures, that both address these needs whilst observing departmental and organisational policies
- Experience of working in a flexible environment where priorities are constantly changing
- The ability to assess the results of training and report on its effectiveness
- The confidence and ability to communicate verbally and in writing to people at all levels
- Willingness to receive and act upon constructive feedback along with a desire to develop your own knowledge, skills and abilities
- Ability to analyse information in order to resolve problems, making informed decisions that consider the relevant factors and available information.
- Proficient in Windows based applications
Starting Salary: £20,000 - £25,000
Bonus: Performance-related, up to 10% of annual salary
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday inclusive
Holidays: 30 days per year (22 standard + 8 bank holidays) increasing with length of service to a maximum of 33 days per year (25 standard + 8 bank holidays)
Pension: Company Pension Scheme, eligible for Company contributions after one year’s service
