Job Purpose
To deliver departmental objectives through effective management of a team
Key Accountabilities
- Carry out monthly performance reviews in line with Opus Energy’s Performance Management Scheme
- Perform regular quality checks on team members’ work, providing feedback, coaching and ongoing support
- Set and cascade objectives to ensure team and department KPIs are met
- Conduct regular team meetings to provide an open forum for discussion; ensuring that agreed actions are completed within fixed timescales
- Report daily progress against targets to the Department Manager with an action plan for proposed resolution when targets are not being achieved
- Work closely with other Opus Team Leaders to share best practice and create awareness of departmental issues throughout the business
- Monitor team and departmental processes and procedures, reviewing changes and making recommendations for improvements and automation
- Ensure resource levels within the team are sufficient to meet targets; working with the HR team to effectively recruit new team members when required. Build relationships with industry regulatory bodies and investigate and respond to complaints raised, professionally and within agreed timescales
- Effectively manage performance issues; using the disciplinary procedure when required
- Take responsibility for project work assigned by the Department Manager
Skills, Experience & Attributes
- Experience of managing and motivating a team; with a practical understanding of people management issues, including motivational and disciplinary matters
- Experience of setting targets and measuring performance within a target driven customer-focussed environment
- Ability to communicate confidently with colleagues, third parties and members of the senior management team
- Ability to listen effectively and respond appropriately to requests for information and assistance, in a succinct and easily understandable style
- Ability to translate the needs of our customers into working procedures, whilst observing departmental and organisational policies
- Ability to identify skills gaps and make appropriate recommendations for development opportunities
- Ability to analyse information and make sound decisions that consider the relevant factors and available information
- Ability to work calmly and effectively whilst working to various deadlines
- Actively request, and respond positively to, feedback and take an active interest in personal development
- Proficient in Windows based applications
Salary: £20,000 - £28,000 depending on experience
Bonus: Performance-related, up to 10% of annual salary
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday inclusive
Holidays: 30 days per year (22 standard + 8 bank / public holidays) increasing with length of service up to a maximum of 33 days per year (25 standard + 8 bank / public holidays)
Pension: Group personal pension scheme, eligible for company contributions after one year’s service
